My research theme is to monitor, diagnose, and manage the Internet, the cloud data center networks (DCN), and the distributed systems through theoretically sound, hardware optimized, and software-defined systematical approaches. The Internet, DCN, and distributed systems have been the most important information infrastructure of society. However, as they are evolving increasingly complex, it has proved difficult to characterize, understand, model, and manage the enormous volume and great variety of big network data in terms of large-scale behaviors. To address these problems, I have increasingly focused on hardware and software co-designed heterogeneous systems for DCN, network measurement, and software-defined networking.
